We signed our daughter up for the Living Room Academy immediately after learning about it from Above Rubies. She drove by herself for the first time 12 hours away from home. We considered it a big adventure and refused to let fear keep her from attending. I didn’t hear from her much during her 2 weeks there, but she reassured me she was having a great time and learning a lot. Once she arrived home I immediately noticed how bright and cheery she was. She shared about how they canned pickles, baked breads, walked in the mountains. She learned sewing, knitting and embroidery all while taking time to read literature and share their hearts. She especially enjoyed Keturah and her family, saying they were the nicest people she had ever met and were so much fun to be around. She would have stayed longer if she could have and has already talked about how she wants to go back. I’m so glad we made Living Room Academy a priority for our daughter’s summer, it was absolutely worth the investment!

I had a great time at the Living Room Academy, Keturah and her family were very kind, and Keturah herself is a very gentle and patient teacher. I believe I can honestly say there isn't a single fruit of the spirit that can't be found in her, and I was greatly encouraged by the fellowship and friendship that was present in the Living Room Academy.

While I don't have a home of my own, I have been looking for more ways to serve my parents and siblings. So far, my goal every morning is to do one or two extra chores that will make a difference, at least to my mom, and I've felt more at peace and desire to serve since the trip out there. To see loving God and your neighbor more then oneself actually put into practice is extremely encouraging, and I would greatly love to see myself doing the same as I finish this final stretch from childhood to adulthood.

We had altered a couple garments to fit us, learned to sew a skirt and pillowcase from scratch, embroider, knit, and made some delicious breads and pies. All these skills were pleasant to learn, and will come in useful once I do have a family of my own, and I am grateful to have had a chance to learn them.
